Muzaffarpur, Bihar – On 15 October, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary cut the ribbon on a 62‑acre footwear and accessories park located in the Mahwal Industrial Area of Motipur block, signaling a decisive move toward industrial growth in the state.

Scale and vision of the park

The sprawling complex is designed to breathe new life into Bihar’s leather and shoe‑making ecosystem. Five dedicated leather units are slated to start operations, together expected to create roughly 2,100 jobs for people from Muzaffarpur and surrounding districts.

Ready‑made, plug‑and‑play facilities

The Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) has equipped the site with turnkey G+2 sheds that are ready for immediate occupancy. Small and medium enterprises can lease these plug‑and‑play spaces, bypassing the lengthy construction phase and heavy upfront capital normally required to set up a plant.

Common Facility Centre (CFC)

A standout element of the park is its Common Facility Centre, stocked with machinery valued at about ₹8.5 crore. The CFC allows budding manufacturers to rent high‑end equipment on a pay‑per‑use basis, aligning expenditure directly with production needs.

Highlights of the inauguration ceremony

The event drew a host of dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Union Ministers Rajiv Ranjan Singh and Rajbhushan Nishad, as well as Vaishali MP Veena Devi. The guests toured the sheds and the CFC, emphasizing the park’s role in nurturing entrepreneurship.

Security arrangements

Given the prominence of the attendees, district authorities enforced a five‑kilometre no‑fly zone around the venue and deployed extensive ground security to ensure a smooth and safe inauguration.

Economic outlook

Analysts expect the park to act as a catalyst for Bihar’s leather and footwear industry, offering modern machinery and ready‑built infrastructure that lower entry barriers for smaller players. While the full impact will be measurable once the factories are fully operational, early signs point to a substantial boost in local employment and a stronger industrial base for Muzaffarpur.
