New Delhi – In a dramatic turn of events, the Delhi Police have dismantled a gang responsible for snatching nearly ₹1.5 crore in cash. The operation culminated in the arrest of five individuals and the recovery of roughly ₹1 crore from the accused.

How the crime unfolded

Investigators say the incident occurred on the evening of 7 September, along the Outer Ring Road near the Geeta Colony flyover. A businessman, accompanied by an associate, was travelling in an auto‑rickshaw from Chandni Chowk to Safdarjun Enclave, carrying a satchel that held the cash.

Mid‑journey, a duo on a motorcycle halted the auto‑rickshaw, brandishing weapons and demanding the bag. Under duress, the victims handed over the satchel, after which the assailants fled the scene.

Police response and breakthrough

A FIR was immediately lodged, prompting a swift investigative drive. Through CCTV footage, witness statements, and forensic analysis, detectives were able to trace the perpetrators’ movements and identify five key players.

All five suspects were taken into custody in the following weeks. Interrogations led to the seizure of approximately ₹1 crore, which has been handed over to the victims. Authorities continue to chase the remaining amount and are probing possible links to a larger conspiracy.

“The rapid apprehension of the culprits and the substantial recovery of the loot underscore the efficiency of our investigative teams,” said a senior police official.
