Incident Summary
Haridwar: A sudden structural failure caused a section of Amrit Law College, located in the Dhanouri‑Pirankaliyar zone, to give way. The collapse occurred near the restroom block, sending concrete and masonry crashing down onto the campus grounds where a Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) platoon was stationed.
Rescue Operations
Witnesses said a PAC constable became pinned beneath the falling debris, triggering an immediate emergency response. Officers from the Kaliyar police station and the Dhanouri outpost arrived within minutes, joined by a team of rescue workers who began painstakingly clearing the wreckage.
Working against time, the rescuers methodically removed broken slabs and rubble, searching for the trapped jawan. After a focused effort, they succeeded in extracting the officer and moving him to a safe area for medical attention.
Medical Care and After‑effects
The rescued PAC member, along with a few other staff members who suffered minor injuries, were swiftly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police officials carried out a preliminary survey of the collapse site, documenting the damage and recording initial statements from witnesses.
