Central Funding Boost Arrives for Himachal’s Agriculture
The Union government has unlocked a fresh tranche of ₹64.82 crore to energise agricultural initiatives across Himachal Pradesh. The sum is earmarked for two cornerstone schemes that seek to modernise the state’s farming ecosystem.
How the Money Is Divided
Under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), the centre has earmarked ₹28.31 crore. An additional ₹36.51 crore will flow through the Krishi Unnati Yojana. Together they constitute the complete ₹64.82 crore package.
Leaders Praise the Disbursement
Hamirpur MP and former Union minister Anurag Singh Thakur thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the continued financial backing. Thakur noted that the fresh installment will reinforce ongoing infrastructure work and pave the way for new projects aimed at strengthening Himachal’s farm sector.
Planned Utilisation of Funds
The resources will support a spectrum of activities—from seed distribution and irrigation upgrades to capacity‑building workshops for cultivators. By bolstering both RKVY and Krishi Unnati Yojana, the state can accelerate planned interventions and sustain momentum on existing programmes.
Wider Significance
This allocation forms part of a broader central effort to ensure timely financing for agriculture‑centric schemes across India. Himachal Pradesh’s latest tranche underscores the continuing partnership between the centre and the state to keep vital farm programmes financially viable.
