Three‑Day Intensive Drive to Close Gaps in the Electoral Roll

From 7 October to 9 October, election officials across Jharkhand will run dedicated digitisation camps at polling stations. The effort is part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists and aims to give citizens who were missed a chance to be added.

Focus on New Voter Enrolments

Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has ordered District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and their assistants to ensure the three‑day campaign runs smoothly. Residents who are not yet listed can submit Form 6 at any of the camps. Staff will also fast‑track the digitisation of Forms 6, 7 and 8 received from Booth Level Officers—Form 6 for new registrations, Form 7 for deletions, and Form 8 for corrections or updates.

Statewide Mega Help‑Desk on Oct 10

After the digitisation sprint, every polling station will host a BLO‑BLA‑2 meeting‑cum‑mega help‑desk on 10 October. Voters can obtain assistance on registration, lodge objections, verify notices issued during the revision, and resolve any other roll‑related concerns. This marks the fourth statewide initiative to simplify the revision process and address voter queries.

Ensuring No Eligible Voter Is Left Behind

CEO Kumar stressed that the election machinery must leave no eligible Indian citizen out of the roll. Officers have been instructed to intensify outreach in areas with vulnerable or under‑represented groups, providing extra support where needed.

Why Discrepancies Occur in the Roll

The chief electoral officer explained that mismatches can arise from enumeration errors, inaccurate mapping in earlier revisions, or legacy data mistakes. The current SIR exercise is not meant to correct every historic inaccuracy; its primary goal is to produce an accurate, up‑to‑date roll for the upcoming election.

Eligibility Criteria for Inclusion

Applicants must be Indian citizens, have turned 18 on or before 1 October 2026, and normally reside within the jurisdiction of the relevant polling station. Required documents will be verified at the time of registration.

Election officials have been directed to accelerate the processing and digitisation of Forms 6, 7 and 8 so that applicants receive prompt assistance and the roll reflects the latest data. The final roll from this SIR cycle is scheduled for publication on 19 October.
