Security and traffic arrangements intensified for President Murmu’s three‑day Himachal itinerary
In preparation for President Droupadi Murmu’s swing through Himachal Pradesh, police, Home Guard and other security forces have beefed up checkpoints, roadblocks and crowd‑control along the Bilaspur‑Manali corridor. The reinforced presence is intended to guarantee smooth movement for the President’s engagements at AIIMS Bilaspur, the Manali region and the Atal Tunnel.
AIIMS Bilaspur outpatient services suspended for one day
All routine OPD activities at AIIMS Bilaspur will be paused on Tuesday. No fresh registrations or regular consultations will be accepted during that period. The suspension applies solely to outpatient care; emergency services and treatment for in‑patients will continue without interruption.
President to attend AIIMS convocation ceremony
The President is slated to land at the AIIMS Bilaspur helipad at approximately 10:35 a.m. and join the convocation that commences at 10:45 a.m., where 92 doctors, nursing trainees and paramedical students will be awarded degrees. After the ceremony, she will head to Manali around 11:55 a.m. and remain in the hill station for the following two days.
Vehicle movement curtailed near the Atal Tunnel
Travel to the Atal Tunnel will be temporarily restricted as part of the security protocol. Authorities have announced a halt to vehicle flow toward the tunnel from 6 p.m. on 6 October until noon on 7 October. The section between Palchan and the Rohtang‑Atal Tunnel entrance will be closed during this window. Motorists are advised to modify their itineraries accordingly.
President’s agenda at the Atal Tunnel and Manali
On Wednesday morning, President Murmu will inspect the Atal Tunnel before returning to Manali. A brief visit to the nearby Hidimba Temple is also on the program. She is expected to depart Himachal Pradesh for Delhi on 8 October.
Emergency department at AIIMS remains fully operational
While the OPD will be closed for routine cases, the emergency wing will stay open 24 hours a day. Patients already admitted will continue to receive uninterrupted care. AIIMS officials have urged anyone with non‑urgent follow‑ups or regular check‑ups to reschedule for a later date.
The temporary measures are purely to facilitate the President’s movements and to preserve a secure environment for all official functions in Bilaspur and Manali.
