Details of the FZ1073 Incident

On 30 September, a Flydubai aircraft operating as flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv was thrown into chaos when a co‑pilot registered in Oman is reported to have attacked the Indian captain inside the cockpit. The confrontation caused a sudden loss of altitude, forcing the injured captain to pry open the cockpit door. Passengers and crew rushed in, overpowered the assailant and helped bring the aircraft back under control.

Following the struggle, the crew elected to divert the plane, which made an emergency touchdown at Tabuk Air Base in Saudi Arabia. All 122 occupants – passengers and crew alike – emerged unharmed.

Trump Points to Iran

During a press conference, President Donald Trump stated that he personally believes the incident was orchestrated by Iran. He offered no supporting evidence, simply declaring,

“I think Iran is involved.”

The remark injected a political dimension into an already complex investigation.

Other world leaders have been more cautious. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned against premature blame, while officials in the United Arab Emirates are examining whether the episode was driven by terrorism or a personal vendetta.

Captain’s Courageous Actions

The Indian captain’s swift response earned praise throughout the region. By regaining entry to the cockpit, he allowed passengers and crew to subdue the attacker before the situation could deteriorate further.

Netanyahu personally thanked the captain and extended an invitation for him and his family to join Israel’s Independence Day celebrations slated for May 2027.

Multinational Probe Ongoing

Investigators from the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Oman are jointly reviewing the case, focusing on the co‑pilot’s background, possible motives and any external influence.

Flydubai has temporarily halted its flights to Israel while the inquiry proceeds. No conclusive motive or Iranian link has been confirmed publicly, leaving Trump’s claim as part of a broader, still‑developing investigation.
