Dehradun – Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami officially opened the newly‑crafted Jal Srishti Park in Miyanwala on Friday. The Mussoorie‑Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) executed the project at an estimated cost of ₹8.64 crore, positioning it as a flagship effort to make Dehradun cleaner, healthier, and greener.
Revitalising an Old Pond
The heart of the park is the restoration of a long‑neglected pond. Designers not only cleaned the water body but also fashioned an attractive island at its centre, complete with pedal‑boat facilities for families and visitors.
According to the Chief Minister, safeguarding water bodies is more than an ecological duty; it is a legacy for future generations. He stressed that true development must blend construction with environmental stewardship.
Infrastructure Upgrades in Raipur
While unveiling the park, Dhami highlighted parallel initiatives across the Raipur corridor, encompassing schools, hospitals, road widening, and sewer‑system upgrades. New tube wells and overhead tanks are being installed to bolster drinking‑water supply, and old pipelines are being replaced with modern lines.
Additional work on flood‑control structures and river channelisation aims to mitigate seasonal waterlogging, safeguarding both livelihoods and property.
Song Dam – A Future Water Reservoir
With Dehradun’s population on the rise, the Chief Minister outlined progress on the ambitious Song Dam project, which is expected to reinforce the city’s long‑term drinking‑water capacity.
He reiterated the government’s pledge to deliver better roads, reliable water, effective flood management, and accessible green spaces for all residents.
Amenity‑Rich, Multi‑Purpose Design
MDDA officials describe Jal Srishti Park as a multi‑functional hub featuring a 300‑metre jogging track, a dedicated yoga deck, a children’s playground, an educational flower garden, landscaped lawns, and ample seating. The integration of modern amenities with the pond’s ecological revival creates a balanced urban oasis.
Chief Minister Dhami appealed to citizens to keep the park pristine, noting that while authorities can build facilities, their upkeep is a shared community responsibility. He encouraged youngsters to utilise the space for sports, yoga, and recreation while respecting the water body and surrounding greenery.
Dehradun’s reputation for lush scenery and natural charm, he said, must be preserved even as the city embraces contemporary infrastructure.
The inauguration was attended by MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, MDDA Vice‑Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari, other officials, and a large gathering of local residents.
