New Punjab Congress Leader Pays Homage at Bangla Sahib Gurdwara
Chandigarh – Fresh from being installed as president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, Pargat Singh spent Saturday at Delhi’s Bangla Sahib Gurdwara, offering prayers and contemplating the challenges ahead.
Urging Unity and “Sarbat Da Bhala”
Addressing reporters after his visit, Singh appealed to Punjabis to remain united, invoking the timeless Sikh maxim Sarbat Da Bhala – the welfare of all. He reminded listeners that Punjab’s identity has always been built on communal harmony, a common cultural fabric, and a collective sense of duty.
Dismissing Party Factionalism
When questioned about rumors of internal rifts, Singh brushed them aside, noting that “differences of opinion are inevitable in any political outfit,” but insisting that the Congress must function as a single, cohesive force. He pledged to involve senior leaders in crafting the party’s future roadmap.
Criticism of the AAP Administration
Singh did not hesitate to critique the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab, accusing it of squandering public assets and the state’s finances, and likening the government to a “sandcastle” that will soon crumble.
Condemning Divisive Tactics of the BJP
The new Congress chief also targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party, describing its tactics as polarising. He urged that Punjab’s political dialogue focus on the state’s welfare and the people’s needs rather than on sectarian narratives.
Key Priorities for the Fresh Leadership
Singh laid out his immediate agenda: raising Punjab‑specific issues, fortifying the party’s organisational structure, and safeguarding the state’s tradition of social concord. His elevation follows the removal of Amarinder Singh‑Raja Warring, ushering in a new chapter for Punjab Congress grounded in collective effort.
