Arrests and confiscated weapons
The Crime Branch unit based in Farukhnagar, Gurugram, detained three young men accused of orchestrating a large‑scale terror‑related act in Delhi intended to create widespread panic. During the operation, officers seized two pistols of foreign origin together with five cartridges.
The individuals taken into custody are:
- Abhay (aka Maulad), 20 – resident of Kheda Jhajhrola village.
- Jatin (aka Jony), 29 – hailing from Patel Nagar, Sonipat.
- Sagar – also from Kheda Jhajhrola.
All three have been charged under the Arms Act at the Sector‑10 police station.
Sequence of the arrests
Separate investigative teams cornered each suspect at different sites. Abhay was apprehended near the Garhi flyover on the New Pataudi‑Gurugram Road, Jatin was nabbed in Farukhnagar, and Sagar was intercepted close to the KMP stretch in the same locality. While trying to evade capture, Sagar attempted to leap from a flyover, broke his leg and was subsequently taken to a hospital. Further legal steps will follow his recovery.
Tracing the source of the firearms
Interrogations indicated that Abhay received the pistols from Jatin. Detectives are now examining how Jatin sourced the weapons, with early leads pointing to a chain of intermediaries who may have facilitated the transfer.
Police suspect the trio maintained communication with contacts abroad, possibly receiving directives for illicit money‑recovery and extortion schemes. The alleged plot was aimed at executing a high‑impact crime in Delhi to sow fear, though the exact targets remain under investigation.
Expanding the investigation
Authorities are mapping the full supply network that delivered the firearms to the accused, scrutinising call logs and digital footprints to identify additional conspirators.
Records also reveal that Jatin is already facing a case in Delhi under the Excise Act, prompting officials to review his prior activities as part of the broader probe.
ACP Naveen Sharma stressed that the enquiry continues to uncover the origin of the guns, the wider criminal web, and any further illegal links the arrested individuals may have. The investigation remains active, with updates expected as questioning proceeds and new leads are validated.
