A Shocking Attempt at Galleria Market
On 21 September, a routine stop at Galleria Market turned into a nightmare for 23‑year‑old Sahil Arora. After parking his car and stepping into a nearby café, he returned to discover three unknown men already inside his vehicle, one of them brandishing a pistol and demanding that Sahil drive them elsewhere.
How Sahil Turned the Tables
When the gun failed to discharge, Sahil seized the chance, floored the accelerator and forced the front‑seat assailant to abandon the car. The two occupants in the back leapt out as the vehicle lurched forward, melting into the surrounding traffic.
A few moments later a scooter forced Sahil to stop. The remaining gunman fled, leaving the weapon behind. Police later recovered the pistol from the car during their investigation.
Police Response and Arrests
Sahil reported the incident the following day at the Sector‑29 police station. The Crime Branch, Sector‑43, launched an immediate probe and soon identified five suspects:
- Praveen – resident of Sector‑67, Gurugram
- Sumer Singh – Lakshman Vihar, Gurugram
- Shiv Shankar – Vaidharm Colony, Faridabad
- Aman – Meethapur, Delhi
- Hemant – Meethapur, Delhi
All five were taken into custody while investigators mapped out each person’s alleged role in the kidnapping scheme.
The Commission Dispute Behind the Plot
According to ACP Naveen Sharma, the motive stems from a property‑commission disagreement. Praveen had assisted Sahil’s father in sealing a deal, only to see another party close the transaction, leaving Praveen unpaid for his expected commission.
Police contend that the financial grievance pushed Praveen to collude with Sumer Singh, hoping to force Sahil’s father into paying the disputed amount and to halt the subsequent sale.
GPS Tracking and Pre‑planned Execution
Investigators uncovered that Praveen had earlier fitted a GPS tracker onto Sahil’s car, allowing the conspirators to monitor his movements. The duo allegedly travelled from Nuh with the firearm, recruiting Shiv Shankar, Aman and Hemant to carry out the plan.
The intended outcome was to use the kidnapping threat as leverage, compelling Sahil’s father to settle the commission claim.
Ongoing Legal Proceedings
Authorities are preparing to present the five accused before a court. Further interrogations will probe the depth of the conspiracy, the origin of the weapon, and each suspect’s precise involvement.
