Detention in the Lam Sector Near the Line of Control

Security units patrolling the Lam sector of Nowshera in Rajouri intercepted a teenage girl as she moved toward the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC). The 17‑year‑old was immediately taken into custody for an initial debrief before being handed over to the local police.

The girl was identified as Samiya Azeem, daughter of Mohammad Azeem, a resident of Khuiretta in Pakistan‑occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK).

Police Take Over the Inquiry

After the army completed its first round of questioning, Samiya was transferred to the Nowshera Police. Investigators are now reconstructing the route she took and the reasons she found herself on the Indian side of the LoC.

In the preliminary interview, the teenager told officials that she had slipped across the border unintentionally. Security agencies are currently cross‑checking her claim and scrutinising the circumstances surrounding her movement.

Authorities Examine Every Angle

Both security forces and police are conducting a thorough review of the case. They are confirming her identity, mapping the exact path she used, and assessing whether the crossing was truly accidental or driven by another motive.

Given the strategic sensitivity of the area, officials are handling the matter with heightened vigilance, awaiting further evidence from ongoing interrogations and verification processes.

Minor Status Shapes the Investigation

Because Samiya is only 17, the probe will adhere to legal procedures applicable to minors. The primary aim is to establish the facts surrounding her presence near the LoC, with no official motive disclosed at this stage.

Updates will follow as the inquiry develops and authorities decide on any subsequent actions.
