Incident Summary
At around 06:00 hrs on Saturday, a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus en route from Manali to Pathankot rolled over near the Police Line area of Bashing in Kullu district. The vehicle, which was carrying four passengers together with the driver and the conductor, tipped onto its side, causing injuries that range from minor cuts to more serious trauma.
People Affected
The six individuals taken to the Regional Hospital in Kullu include four passengers – Shyam Lal, 45, Krishna Thapa, 42, Chhaya Devi, 25 and Rakesh Kumar, 31 – as well as the driver, Manmohan Singh, 42. The conductor, Praveen, 46, suffered only minor injuries. All victims were admitted for medical observation and treatment.
Police Action and Ongoing Inquiry
Local law‑enforcement units reached the crash site within minutes and have opened a formal investigation. Officers are recording statements from eyewitnesses, inspecting the roadway near the Police Line, and checking the bus’s mechanical condition to determine whether driver error, a technical fault, or external factors triggered the overturn.
Significance of the Manali‑Pathankot Corridor
The Manali‑Pathankot road is a vital link for both locals and tourists navigating the Kullu valley. Because the accident occurred in the early morning, the bus was relatively lightly loaded, a detail that may shape the conclusions of the probe.
Present Situation
Medical teams continue to monitor the health of the injured, while police officials have pledged to release further updates as the investigation proceeds.
