Ramnagar. On Monday, Kumaon Divisional Commissioner Deepak Rawat visited the Ramnagar Tehsil office to audit revenue operations, pending court matters and public grievances. He urged officials to adhere to prescribed timelines and accelerate the processing of all outstanding cases.

Zero Tolerance for Unjustified Delays

While examining the docket of court‑pending cases, the Commissioner stressed that no matter should linger without a legitimate cause. He instructed the staff to hold regular hearings and to dispose of each case promptly, in strict conformity with the applicable rules, thereby eliminating avoidable holdups.

Expedited Disposal of Section‑143 Applications

In the review of Section‑143 applications concerning land‑use changes, the Commissioner mandated a ten‑day turnaround for every file, insisting on transparency and strict compliance with the established procedures.

Mutation Files Under Scrutiny

The official expressed displeasure upon discovering that a majority of mutation files were being rejected on the 35th day. He ordered an immediate explanation from the Tehsildar and reiterated that mutation cases must be examined and closed within the legally defined timeframe.

‘Khurra’ Cases Flagged After Two‑Year Stagnation

Cases labeled as ‘Khurra’ that have remained unresolved for over two years were also highlighted. The Commissioner directed that the concerned Patwaris provide detailed explanations for these prolonged pendencies.

Monitoring Mechanism Strengthened

He instructed the Sub‑Divisional Magistrate (SDM) to institute a systematic monitoring system for all pending matters at the tehsil level, emphasizing that citizens should not be forced to make repeated visits for revenue‑related services. The aim is to streamline workflows and guarantee timely, quality resolutions.

Advocates’ Request and Assurance

During the inspection, a group of advocates met the Commissioner and appealed for the posting of an Ahlmad at the tehsil office. He assured that the posting would be prioritized and called upon the legal community to help raise public awareness about mutation procedures.

Present at the meeting were SDM Gopal Singh Chauhan, Tehsildar Manisha Makrana, along with other tehsil officials and staff.
