Dhanapur, Chandauli. In the late hours of Wednesday, a house in Birna village that appeared well‑secured was violently ransacked. Intruders slipped past the locked doors, making off with approximately ₹1.6 lakh in cash and a handful of gold ornaments.

The property belongs to Bhanu Maurya. The second floor is still under construction, so the family continues to reside in their previous home while the new building remains locked each night.

Following their usual routine, the family locked the new house before retiring to the old one. Somewhere during the night, unknown perpetrators forced open the locked doors and rummaged through the rooms.

Cash and Gold Jewellery Stolen

When the family returned on Thursday morning, they discovered displaced furniture and belongings scattered across the floor. An inventory confirmed that ₹1.6 lakh in cash had vanished, along with a gold chain, a ring and several other pieces of jewellery.

The victims promptly reported the theft to the local police‑revenue‑village (PRV). Officers arrived swiftly, cordoned off the scene and began collecting forensic evidence.

Police Examine CCTV Recordings

Investigators reviewed the surveillance cameras installed around the property. Early checks suggest the break‑in was captured on video, and the footage is now being meticulously analysed to identify the suspects.

Authorities are also probing other clues to determine how the burglars bypassed the locked doors and whether they had prior knowledge of the house’s vacancy.

Residents Demand Enhanced Security

The incident has amplified anxiety among nearby villagers, who note a rise in similar thefts over recent weeks. Community members are urging police to increase night patrols and strengthen overall security in the area.

Local leaders have called for stronger preventive measures, especially during periods when homes are unoccupied, to deter future break‑ins.

Police continue their investigation, working to trace the perpetrators and recover the stolen cash and jewellery.
