New Delhi. Early Monday morning a wave of bomb‑threat emails hit the inboxes of several schools in the capital, compelling headmasters to activate emergency measures and clear the campuses of students and staff.

Multiple institutions targeted

Among the schools named were Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate and Chinmaya Vidyalaya in Vasant Vihar, along with a handful of other institutions scattered along the Lutyens’ Delhi corridor. Although the messages arrived before sunrise, school administrators only became aware of the threat between 11 a.m. and noon.

Swift coordination with police and fire services

Once the alerts were verified, each school promptly alerted the Delhi Police and Delhi Fire Services, setting their crisis‑response protocols in motion. As a precaution, students and teachers were guided out of the buildings while specialist teams made their way to the sites.

Bomb squads and sniffer dogs deployed

Police units equipped with bomb‑detection experts and sniffer‑dog teams swarmed the affected campuses. The fire department also responded; the Delhi Fire Services control room logged a call regarding the Vasant Vihar school at approximately 12:30 p.m., dispatching a fire tender and personnel to assist with the evacuation.

Thorough anti‑sabotage sweeps were carried out throughout the premises. At the time of writing, investigators confirmed that no suspicious devices or materials had been found.

Parents kept informed

Sardar Patel Vidyalaya quickly notified parents that all students had been safely evacuated and that classes would only resume once authorities gave the all‑clear.

The incident evokes memories of similar bomb‑threat emails received by the same school and a few other Delhi institutions about two weeks earlier, during the examination period, which also led to extensive security checks.

Police and security agencies continue to analyse the latest emails, trace their origin, and keep the city’s schools on heightened alert.
