Sethi Complex Inferno Ravages Jaipur: 13‑Hour Blaze Prompts FIR Against Owner

Jaipur. Following a ferocious blaze that engulfed the Sethi Complex in Minhari Ji Ka Katla, Badi Chaupar, authorities have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the property’s proprietor, Anand Sethi. The police complaint cites illegal extensions, non‑functional fire‑safety gear, lack of a valid Fire NOC, and blocked access routes as contributing factors.

The fire ignited on the second floor and burned unabated for roughly 13 hours. As flames surged, merchandise stored in numerous shops and warehouses was consumed, forcing fire crews into a protracted rescue operation.

Access Challenges Hampered Firefighting Efforts

Fire engines struggled to navigate the narrow, congested lanes surrounding the complex. Obstructions forced responders to improvise with temporary ladders and hoses, delaying containment efforts and complicating rescue attempts.

Businesses Hit Hard

Among the affected enterprises were Satnam Madan Traders, Jitendra/Kamal, Kamal Agarwal, Shailendra Agarwal, Rajesh, Hasan, Ramesh/Rajesh, Rakesh Gupta’s Vimal Hosiery Agency, Chhotumai Purushottam, Ashok Kumar Sharma, and Vikas Sharma. Units numbered 201‑A through 206‑A also suffered damage. The Vimal Hosiery Agency alone is estimating losses in the range of ₹65‑70 lakh, while the total valuation of damages to other establishments remains under assessment.

Investigation Launched

The FIR was lodged based on a report submitted by Sub‑Inspector Narendra, with Station House Officer Rakesh Khalia tasked to lead the probe. investigators will scrutinize the building’s structural compliance, the condition of fire‑safety installations, the status of the Fire NOC, and overall emergency‑response preparedness.
