Narkatiaganj – A 35‑year‑old married woman was discovered dead under unclear circumstances inside a rented flat in Prakashnagar, Ward 11, sparking alarm among local residents.
The victim, identified as Gudiya Patel, was found with visible marks around her neck, prompting immediate suspicion of foul play.
Personal background
According to neighbours, Gudiya had been living apart from her husband for almost eight years; her spouse is believed to reside in Nepal. She had recently taken a lease in the Prakashnagar neighbourhood.
Family’s accusations
Relatives allege that Ashish Jaiswal, also known as Siku and a resident of Ward 1, had been a regular visitor to Gudiya’s home for the past three‑four years. Her mother, Anjani Devi, and sister, Varsha Devi, claim that Jaiswal strangled Gudiya.
The family added that an argument between Gudiya and Jaiswal took place roughly four days before the tragedy, and that the dispute was reported to their maternal side.
Details of the night
On the evening of the incident, Gudiya’s nine‑year‑old son was staying at his maternal grandmother’s house, leaving his mother alone. Her lifeless body was discovered later that night.
Police investigation
Police arrived at the scene after a tip‑off and have begun a thorough examination. SDPO IPS Prasanna Kumar MV stated that investigators are pursuing every possible lead and will act according to the post‑mortem report and any emerging evidence.
“We are treating this as a potential homicide and will leave no stone unturned,” the officer said.
The case remains open, and authorities have urged anyone with additional information to come forward.
