Dehradun – In a bid to align Uttarakhand’s young workforce with the fast‑changing demands of modern industry, the state government has inaugurated a comprehensive skill‑development programme. The initiative, championed by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, is formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Skill Development & Employment and the M3M Foundation.
The MoU was signed in Dehradun by Sanjay Kumar, Director (Training) representing the department, and Dr. Aishwarya Mahajan, Managing Trustee and President of the M3M Foundation.
Four Pilot Training Hubs
The first rollout will see dedicated centres set up in Dehradun, Haldwani, Kashipur and Pithoragarh. Depending on local demand, Almora and Barkot could be added later. Each hub will offer at least two specialised courses tailored to the employment profile of its surrounding industry.
Curriculum Focused on Future‑Ready Trades
Students will receive hands‑on instruction in high‑growth technical streams such as Electric Vehicles (EV), Auto Electrical Maintenance, Automobile Repair & Maintenance, Internet of Things (IoT) and Plumbing. Course selection will be driven by regional job opportunities and the specific skill gaps identified by local employers.
From Classroom to Career
Dr. Payal Kanodia, Chairperson and Trustee of the M3M Foundation, emphasised that the partnership goes beyond classroom instruction. “Our goal is to mould trainees to meet industry standards and then bridge them directly to job placements or entrepreneurial ventures,” she said.
The collaboration will also establish a monitoring framework to track placement outcomes, ensuring that the training translates into sustainable livelihoods.
Key officials attending the launch included Deputy Director (Employment) Chandrakanta, Deputy Director (Training) Niranjan Khugshal, Principal Dinkar Rautela, UKSDM Nodal Officer Vinita Badoni and M3M representative Arvind Kumar Sharma.
